Maegen’s Story

Site created on September 30, 2019

Welcome to Maegen's CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place and will try to keep the site updated regularly with Mae's progress.
Maegen suffered a severe (non-biking related) head injury on Saturday Sept 28 and underwent emergency surgery at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital and will likely be here for several weeks as she recovers.
We really appreciate the outpouring of support and well wishes from everyone.  They mean a lot to us and to Mae.

Journal entry by Erin Herring

Maegen had her one-month recheck with her neurosurgeon at Children's National in DC yesterday. Her doctor said her healing is going well - her incision looks great and he feels that within 3-4 months her skull will be close to fully healed.

In the meantime, she got the go-ahead to ride a bicycle on a trainer and to run - contact sports are still off-limits though 😂

She will have another recheck and a CT scan in about 3 months. We will keep everyone posted if something else comes up, but hopefully this will be it for a few months!

Sending all our love and best wishes to all our friends and family that read this - we appreciate all your support. 💕
