Madge’s Story

Site created on January 12, 2019

Madge was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, after a very quick onset of symptoms. She will be undergoing chemo treatments in hopes to prepare for surgery to remove the mass. This has been a difficult couple of weeks and we ask that people pray for her comfort, relief from nausea, and improved strength. Please no visitors at this time and know that she is receiving everyone’s kind words, posts, and texts.

Meant to post here when I wrote this on Wednesday night but obviously forgot.
Labs were good yesterday and I did receive dose #2 of Doxil. Rough night last night but things have settled down a bit this morning. Specific prayer requests are mentioned in the text below.
Additional good news was that my CA 125 marker was down almost 20 points since December.❤️

Dear family and friends,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. During the time since my last chemo infusion, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. This new chemo has been very hard on my body and digestive system. I have been able to work some during this time but not as much as I had hoped for. I did not lose my hair but eating, nausea and energy level have been the major issues.
I ask for prayers as I see the doctor tomorrow and am scheduled for my second infusion of Doxil (one of the drugs in the class aka “red devil”).
I receive mine as an infusion via my port rather than a push through an IV.
I suck on ice cubes throughout the infusion to avoid blisters in my mouth and on my tongue.  That was very effective for me last time and I did not experience those problems.🙌🏽
My requests for tomorrow-
*good lab results to clear me for treatment
*determine why I am experiencing so much stomach pain (is another paracentesis needed at this time?) Not necessary at this time!!
*meds control nausea
*ice continues to keep me from getting the mouth blisters/stores
*no redness/irritation on hands and feet
*praying that this drug is effective for me
*stamina and overall health
*pray for my heath care team as we navigate through treatments best suited for my needs
On the days I have felt so bad, I am grateful to know that my faithful prayer warriors are lifting me up and carrying me through the day.💖😘
I’m also very thankful for Doug and my family caregivers who patiently tend to my needs!
Resting each day in the loving, everlasting arms of my savior and healer- Christ Jesus!
Love, Madge
