Maddy is strong, Maddy is a fighter and the best tool she possesses is her positive attitude. She is an amazing daughter, sister, friend, equestrian and student.

On July 28th 2021, Maddy visited the ER because she fell off of her skateboard and hit her head. Little did we know that all of our lives would change forever that day. The CT scan showed a lesion unrelated to her fall. As soon as we could obtain an MRI, we found out that she had a brain tumor. Not wasting any time, she had a craniotomy and full resection on August 5th, just one week from that CT scan. We waited five long weeks for pathology to hopefully give us some good news, but after sending her tumor all over the country for testing, we found out that it was cancer. Maddy was diagnosed with Ganglioglioma with ATRT like transformation. The immediate course of action for this rare childhood cancer is high dose chemo and radiation. Maddy started her first of five rounds of chemo on September 29th, 2021. Each round will include a seven day hospital stay while her chemo is carefully handled.
