Lyn’s Story

Site created on April 13, 2021

Sunday evening (4/11), mom complained that she couldn't see. She was taken to Luther hospital for concerns of a stroke. Once there, they did a brain scan and found an aneurysm that had ruptured. She was stabilized and air lifted to Mayo Hospital late Sunday night. Once at Mayo, she underwent an emergency surgery to drain the blood accumulating in her brain and relieve the pressure. Once stabilized from this procedure they were able to insert a coil into the anyrusm to seal it off and disrupt the blood flow. She tolerated this procedure well and is in stable condition. The coming days, weeks, and months all present their challenges and we appreciate the love and support from everyone!

Journal entry by Ashley O'Connell

Today was a LONG but much looked forward to day! Today, mom was discharged from Mayo! She she remains in good health although she will have close outpatient monitoring. She is still working on her strength however. The next step in her journey will be at the Spring Valley rehabilitation center in spring valley, Wisconsin. She is working hard everyday to get stronger. She has a 2-week admit quarantine which she is understandably not impressed with! I bet she'll be doing cartwheels by the time her first visitors are allowed!
