Luke’s Story

Site created on September 24, 2020

Thanks for visiting Luke's page! I am not the blogging type but figured it would be nice to have a page that our friends and family could visit to see updates on Luke and his progress! We are so thankful for the support that we have received and the many prayers that are said for Luke & our family on a daily basis. For those who don't know, Luke has a damaged spinal cord. His cervical spine was injured at some point in his miraculous arrival into this world. His injury is at the C2-C3 level and is an incomplete injury. Our Neurologist at Gillette told us that if either Tim or I had the same injury that Luke has, we would be paralyzed and on a ventilator. Every movement that Luke makes is a miracle that we thank God for.
We trust in God's plan for little Luke and that he will continue to give him the strength that he needs for the challenges up ahead. Luke is perfect, he is exactly the way that God created him to be and we feel so lucky to get to be parents to this special boy.

I am reaching out with a big ask. We've launched a fundraiser to build an all-abilities community playground at my children's school. As many of you know, our son Luke has a spinal cord injury and he is able to be mobile with the assistance of a walker and sometimes he uses a wheelchair. At this time, he isn't able to play on the current playground due to it's inaccessibility and it's heartbreaking. So we are looking to make changes and build a beautiful accessible playground that he and the entire community can enjoy and play together. Our mission is to create a space that allows ALL children, with ALL abilities, to play together.
Would you consider making a donation? We are a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax deductible. Does your employer make contributions to non-profits? We would be a great one to choose!
Here is the link to the website to view the playground and learn about donation methods: https://www.oslsplayground.com/

The number seems unreachable, but I believe that we can make this dream a reality! Thanks for your consideration!!!
