Our sweet little Lucy is nine years old. After having trouble breathing she got X-rays where they found a mass. She was transferred  to Radys in San Diego where they diagnosed it cancer.

Last night officially marked Lucy's last chemo treatment ever! Here is from Tiffany, "We pray today is the first day of the rest of Lucy's life without chemo. We are very thankful that you have been a huge support during the past two and a half years of our difficult journey fighting cancer. Last night we were overjoyed witnessing Lucy take her last meds. During the next six months, Lucy will continue to take antibiotics and will begin to rebuild her immune system. Her bloodwork will be checked monthly, and she still faces a final surgery of getting her port out, which will really signify the end of treatment. Lucy will also continue to meet with her oncologist for the next five years regularly to check her overall health and to make sure she remains in remission. Please pray that Lucy can be hopeful that she is cured and that she will not have side effects or ever have cancer again, and finally that we will choose to live our future faith based rather than fear based. We will never forget the ways each of you invested in us and gave us the love, support, and prayers needed to confront so many difficult days. We look forward to re-entering life and seeing you all!"

As I begin to reflect over the last two and half years, I honestly just want to cry. Seeing someone you love, a family you love, go through so much suffering is the hardest thing to watch! I think of how many nights of no sleep, praying in the middle of the night, crying, lots and lots of crying.

But I also reflect on the amazing things that have happened. I think of finding out that Lucy had cancer because Jillian got a jolt from the Lord that Tiffany must call the doctor right away, that it was something physical and not emotional. I think of those first few days how God was so present. How He gave people visions of Lucy the Valiant, how He gave people words of encouragement for the George family. How when Lucy was getting her lungs drained we were literally praying outloud in the hospital to save Lucy and I had people texting me similar prayers at the same exact time! I believe He saved her life again at that moment.

All the meals, the money, the prayers, the conversations from many of you were priceless. So many people came through and helped us in this very difficult time! Some people that we hadn't seen for years, like family from Foothills Church. I think of strangers praying for her and reaching out to help. Stevie talked about his parents church being so amazing during this time and how they truly showed his family love! For our church, The Grove, and how they fasted for a whole week for healing for Lucy! I think of John Hoffman sitting with us in the most difficult times. For those that would got to the George's to worship and pray!

I think of my sister, Tiffany, how she protected Lucy! How she could not have been a better mother for her. That she laid down her life to give her daughter life! I think of Stevie (Lucy's dad) being a rock through the entire thing. Supporting, comforting, and providing for his family. For the boys and the compassion they showed for their sister.

Tiffany often talked about how amazed she was with Carlton Oaks School. How the community there was so supportive. The doctors and nurses who helped through it all. One doctor whose entire life was dedicated to helping kids with cancer. She barely got time off because she was the only doctor at the time. About Lucy's favorite nurse and how he made her feel so special.

You hear that when you go through something difficult your faith grows and it really has! I cannot imagine ever facing this without Jesus, with us every step of the way. He gave us hope when at times it felt hopeless. He gave us a peace that was not from this world. He showed His mercy. And He showed us over and over how faithful He is! That His promises never fail!

How appropriate that she is finished on Good Friday, something that looked so wrong and so gloom, when it seemed that all hope was lost! But then our God turned something bad into something amazing, when Jesus raised from the dead on the third day! He made a way when there was no way. He gave hope when there was no hope! He gave His life so that we could have LIFE!

If you have not accepted Jesus as Lord and savior, I want to encourage you to do so. I want you to be experience this God of comfort and most of all LOVE! There will be so many Easter services this week. Watch one and hear about our God! You can visit sdgrove.org to hear from our church.

I am excited to see what God is going to make of Lucy. I believe that she has such a calling on her life and believe that God is making her into a beautiful masterpiece! Her story is just beginning...
