We attended Al’s funeral with the Meyers, and Lucy came with the family to the graveside service. After the last prayer was over and folks started leaving, Lucy asked to stay. Chuck and I were able to stay with her to the very end, and Lucy watched it all with rapt attention as workmen with a backhoe filled in the grave. Thankfully the men were solemn and respectful. After they piled the dirt up over the hole, they then placed the flowers on top, parked the backhoe, and left. Only then did Lucy ask to borrow my phone. She used it to take a picture of the grave with the flowers on top, then told us, “Ok, we can go now.”
I am so sorry to learn of your father’s/grandfather’s homegoing. We have been praying for Lucy and your family this week, especially today during his services. We pray that Christ’s peace which passes all understanding will surround you today. Sending our love, Kathy and Steve Stirparo
We are so sorry to hear of your great loss of your beloved father, grandfather and father-in-law. We have been praying for your family! Awww bless Lucy. I can't even imagine the pain and thoughts she is trying to process. You are a great mother, Mary and so in tune with Lucy's thoughts and actions. PTL you found a counselor who understands and is helping her to process her loss and then the identity she feels with her own experiences. I read this verse in my devotions this morning that was an encouragement to me so I will share " For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you"!!We have and serve a God who hears!!!! Much love, Miriam Singer❤
Mary, Dick and I send our love and sympathy as you all mourn this sad loss. Al must have been very special to have raised a fine son in your Thomas. I'll keep you in prayer and especially Lucy, as she processes this time of loss and grief.
Hugs to my "birthday buddy"---YOU---who I love and miss so much! Marsha in Delaware xoxo
