2020. What. A. Year. 
We started this new decade in the middle of Lucas's last round of chemotherapy. Now, 12 months later, it's crazy to think of how far he has come and all the changes that have emerged, on personal levels and collectively as humans.
To many, 2020, the year of Covid-19, is a year to be left; a year of hardship and turmoil. Uncertainty and frustrations. It has been crazy in every possible way. With Scans and follow-ups, physical therapy appointments and distance learning, Lucas went from a world of cancer unknowns to a world of Coronavirous unknowns. But we were ready - having spent the later quarter of 2019 "social distancing" and being hyper vigilant in hand washing and bacterial cleanliness, we were able to adjust pretty quickly and Lucas was given a worldly environment that was overly aware of germ spread; from mask wearing to hand sanitizing, such practices promoted by the CDC have made his recovery a little easier as people are living more "germ aware". 

In 2020 we have spent more time together as a family than EVER and it has been awesome! Since our last update in September, Lucas's kindergarten experience has moved online -  he has adjusted incredibly well and his teacher is a saint! Halloween came and went, Sir Lucas and Batman Garrett helped Grammy pass out candy. November's darker nights and barren trees served as indicators for another major milestone; another (baby) brother! Lucas and Garrett are absolutely infatuated with "little" William ("Little" being subjective as he barreled into the world at 10lbs 12.5oz...that experience can wait for a separate post :))

The Christmas season was a quiet reminder of all the tender mercies we have experienced at the hand of the Lord. As we read through the story of our Saviors birth in the Luke 2, a gentle feeling of peace and comfort could be felt...and immense gratitude for the birth of a wee babe. 

As the end of another year is but hours away, we are grateful for the experiences and feelings that we have endured and felt; the lessons of compassion, faith and trust that we have learned. And we will mark the year 2020 as one of the greatest years FOR our family.
