Journal entry by Jen Ferguson —
She is going home around noon tomorrow
Needs some work on house. They recc bars in bathroom, stool In shower, heldheld shower head, bars on bed, she will need to take it slow.
Dietician came in. Answered all questions. Social worker came gave homecare option list.
She stands, walks and goes to the bathroom on her own with a walker. We ordered bath wipes and shampoo caps for the next week or so for her to use on her own until shower bar and handheld head are installed. Morris hospital will deliver 3 low carb, low sodium meals per day starting Thursday. We need to research and order home care. Meds will be brought in, organized and scheduled tomorrow. Grandpa has a list of when to follow up with each dr; primary, cardio and endocrinology. A cardioversion or watchman may be in her future, but only if symptomatic. I will come around 9:00 am tomorrow to assist the discharge and help them get settled at home. I will stay until they feel comfortable on their own.
The lung aspiration was decided against at this time due to the risks involved, including a potential full surgery if lung was bleeding after. The lasix will be continued and chest X-rays taken regularly by home cardiologist to monitor lung fluid.
For home care and PT It sounds like grandpa and grandma will have to ask for what they want and interview the home health care providers. My feeling is the home healthcare provider (until we get somebody else) is me/us/grandpa.
This is a great outcome!
