Journal entry by Deborah Bresnick —
We are grateful.
So many weeks ago, it was our wish, our hope, our goal that Linda would be home for Thanksgiving and we could all spend time together. And it happened! Yesterday Linda had her first social outing and came to Rebecca's house for Thanksgiving. And we are grateful.
We are grateful for being able to spend time together.....in person.
We are grateful for family and friends and friends that are family and family that are friends.
We are grateful for a family that is about inclusion and openness and hope and acceptance.
Linda has been home almost two weeks and there is progress. While still physically weak, Linda is able to get around the house and do her own self care. Emotionally, things are improving. Of course, there are still difficult moments, but there seems to be more and more moments of "okayness" and that is progress. And Stu is there every step of the way, being the amazing life partner he is.
Linda is starting to reach out to friends and family via email and phone, as she is feeling ready to have more social interactions. With so many people out there missing Linda, it will take time to reconnect with everyone. Patience and continued well wishes and support are always appreciated.
As always, feel free to reach out directly to me (debbrez@comcast.net) or Rebecca any time. I will be leaving tomorrow and don't know when I will be back....but I know it won't be too long!
