Laurie’s Story

Site created on August 18, 2019

Fellow Teacher Laurie is battling stage 4 ovarian cancer. She'd love to get your support through prayers and encouraging comments. I hope and pray that the GoFundMe campaign becomes a tool that also helps alleviate some of the costs of the illness Teacher Laurene MY is  going through. We love her and stand with her in this battle.

This is what our fellow Teacher Laurie wrote on August 16, 2019:

"I wrote to our Advocacy group over a week ago because I had to cancel some classes and was refused soft cancellations. This is getting wearisome. I’m tired of having to fight for soft cancellations every single time. I have Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. I am not going to survive this. I am being aggressively treated with very strong medications to try and buy me more time. The medications make me very ill sometimes and I simply cannot teach. Although I am occasionally granted soft cancellations, most of the time I am given medium cancellations and I have to lose money. I am literally trying to survive on Social Security Disability so any reduction in my VIPKID pay causes great hardship. My oncologist provided a letter explaining my medical situation but I’m still being denied soft cancellations. The Advocacy team was going to try to help but I haven’t gotten a response and I’m super stressed and worried. Can somebody please ask Erik Chong if he can help? Thank you..."

Please know that Erik has already been in touch with Laurie about the soft cancellations situation. Thank you in advance for your prayers and love for Laurie.
