I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Louis growing up in middle school and highschool. Many wonderful memories of him from swimming and school.

Suzanne, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Louie. Louis was one of the finest people

The memory of a Louis that comes first to mind for me is one that shows the person he was. In May of 2017 I was 4 hours away helping out my parents. I got a panicked call fro my 15 year old daughter Carson, who swam for Louis at Fleet. Her mother, my wife Zorka, had just collapsed and been rushed to the hospital. We quickly learned she'd had a major stroke. I jumped in my car and began the longest drive of my life - my wife was fighting for her life and my youngest daughter was sitting in the ER waiting by herself while I and others scrambled to get there. I'd periodically pull off to the side of the road to talk to doctors and check on Carson. And then I got a text from Carson - 'Dad - Louis is here with me'. Somehow he'd heard about what had happened and dropped everything to be with her. A caring act that was typical of Louis.

Suzanne, our hearts break for you and Louie. Louis was so good for Sofia. He knew exactly what worked for her and pushed her to do her best. He is missed. I’ll always remember what he said in August, “God’s plan is better than ours.” Praying for continued strength for you and Louie.

Suzanne, our hearts are with you and Louie and our Fleet family. He was so instrumental in all my kids lives, but most especially to Clara and Christa. My favorite memory of him was not at a swim meet, it wasn't fist pumping the girls at practice or after a great swim, it wasn't even him going around seeing who could hold the most whipped cream in their mouths at one of the swim parties. Nope, my favorite memory of him was years ago after he had returned to the deck from being out several weeks after being very sick. He was on the pool deck at practice and I think he had them sprinting. Louie got out of his lane and Louis reached over, grabbed his head and kissed him on the forehead. At that moment, I saw the father he was to Louie and knew my girls were in the right hands with him as their coach. He will be missed, but the person he was lives on in Louie.
