Journal entry by Michelle Malawski —
Hey all
To everyone who's been watching, reading and supporting me and my family throughout all of this... I just want to say thank you. This entire situation has been nothing but a clusterfuck. I wish there was a better way to phrase it, but there really isn't.
I also wanted to apologize to everyone I haven't personally responded to yet. Trying to get through the day-to-day has been challenging. I'm getting there--slowly but surely. Most days I want to crawl into a hole and stay there for as long as possible. When I do go out to see anyone, I want to pretend like nothing happened. I'm so appreciative to everyone who has been and continues to be patient, not just with me but with my family. "Time heals all wounds," and as much as I know this wound will be a scab that gets reopened at every milestone I make, it will get easier. Things will look differently going forward but life will still move on.
I also wanted to say my Mom may have been frozen in time, but her life hasn't stopped. She lives on in the hearts and minds of everyone she's touched. It might not be in the way any of us want, but she'll be with all of us every step of the way. (Feel free to send a message to share any stories or memories as they come up. I'd personally love to hear them! ❤️) For what I think happens after this, I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a religious person. I will say that I have faith that when people pass that they're around in some way, shape or form. That also being said, it's okay to grieve. It's okay to be in a dark place. There will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. Things will get better, easier, lighter. You just have to be open to it.
Again, thank you all for everything that you've done and continue to do for me and my family. It's unimaginable and hard, but it's not something impossible to overcome. My Mom has made sure that I've known that with every obstacle I've ever come across. You just have to be willing to allow change into your life, no matter what that looks like.
I love you all and take care of each other. It's really all we have sometimes
Michelle
