On June 8, 2020 Lonnie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) after a few weeks of feeling bad and 2 hospital stays. The same day he was transferred to MD Anderson to receive the best care possible. While the doctors are still running tests and developing the best course of treatment, we know Lonnie is a fighter and he WILL beat this! Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers, support, love, happy thoughts and donations. Lonnie and his family feel and appreciate them all!! #LonnieStrong

🙌🏼🧡👊🏼PRAISE REPORT🙌🏼🧡👊🏼

Lonnie went to Houston today for his bloodwork as he had an appointment with Dr. Issa as well.  Dr. Issa Is amazed at his good results and said this is the first person on this leukemia trial he has seen the blood counts bounce back like this. Especially after finishing chemo last week and the counts are still going up (except the platelets which dropped slightly).  He is thinking more and more of not to do a transplant and that's fine with Lonnie.  He will continue on the G chemo (too long to spell much less pronounce ) pill as that is the pill that fights against two different mutations that were in his blood cells and they are gone now as well. He only takes the V chemo pill for seven days when he starts chemo.

He had a bone marrow scheduled for the 31st this month and as far as the Dr. is concerned he does not need to have it unless the protocol calls for it and they'll let us know. He said they may go ahead and do one after the next round of chemo.  He will see Dr. Issa again on September 1 and will start chemo on September 7 again here in The Woodlands. He is still to continue bloodwork twice a week but he may even reduce that after the next chemo to once a week.

We are thrilled with these results and could not be happier. Lonnie feels good but he just doesn't feel like he has all of his strength back yet.  We know your prayers are working so please continue them🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sorry for the long message but lots of great news. Keep the prayers coming that they continue to increase!
