Newest Update

Journal entry by Lois Clay

Hello everyone,

It has been six weeks since my surgery and recovery has been amazing.  The outpouring from friends and family beyond imagination.  The care and compassion from my doctors and other UCSF staff members exemplary.  God's faithfulness, more than I could ever ask or think.

I met with one of the surgeons yesterday and she smiled throughout the visit.  All bandages have now been removed as each of the graft areas continue to heal nicely.  My thigh is actually completely healed.  Swelling on my face gets smaller every day.  I am reminded by a picture taken a few days after surgery that we truly serve a great Healer.

I have now graduated to pureed smoothies and soups, but the feeding tube remains to ensure that I get enough nutrients.  I am beginning to speak a little and hope to progress quickly here as well.

My next update will be after I meet with my primary surgeon on Monday.

I would like to leave you today with one thought.  No matter what you are facing, never give up or give in.  God will see you through.  He will hear you, just call out to Him.  He is your only hope in a time of need.

Have a blessed day.
