Liz has Stage 3 stomach cancer.  She does not use the word cancer but instead uses B.O.B. (Beat Out Bastard)  She will soon start the treatment plan to combat this intruder.  She and her team will put up the fight.   This site is to keep her friends, and family updated.  There will be journal entries, thoughts, and updates.  She appreciates everyone.  Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Linda Johnson

i think that any one of us would say that there have been times when we have felt that we were ‘just survivng’; just barely making it through the day or just over those obstacles that life can throw at us. But I also think that we all would agree that being a cancer survivor has a different meaning.
Liz and I headed to Fox Chase today not really thinking much about the follow up appointment with the oncologist to review post chemo CT and blood work results.  Mostly we were worried about getting home before the snowstorm started.  When the doctor entered the room she said, “it’s a good day, I have only good news-all of your results look good.”  Liz and I nodded in agreement that yes in fact this is good news.  Then we asked, so what is the diagnosis at this time? Remission? No Evidence of Disease? To which she replied, “you are a survivor, some would call you cured.”
It is hours after the appointment and Liz and I are still trying to take in the magnitude of those words. Upon reflection, I don’t really recall the word cure being used too much.  Don’t get me wrong, of course this was the golden prize!  But there have been so many twists and turns and so many obstacles that I guess I just lost sight of -or didn’t expect it to come for another two to five years- the ultimate goal.
At this moment in time, Liz is a survivor. Liz is cured.  Yes, it is a great day. This is a day filled with gratitude and love.  A day to rejoice.
