Lisa’s Story

Site created on September 14, 2018

Lisa loves life to the fullest and considers each day an adventure that is worth taking. She loves Jesus and her family. She loves her church, Purpose Church, in Pomona and she loves being a pastor to elementary kiddos. She loves Celebrate Recovery and loves sharing the hope of jesus with others. Life is difficult sometimes but Lisa knows that if Jesus Allowed it, it’s because he is going to use it to write a better story. Thanks for journeying with her on this new chapter.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lisa Patterson

My goodness; I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to post an update! I am so thrilled to let you know that I completed my final "big" round of chemo! Here is the most awesome thing of all. Round 6 was supposed to be my hardest round and I have to admit that I felt a little nervous going into it as round 5 was so difficult for me. BUT....I believe because so many of you were praying, round 6 ended up being my easiest round! Jesus is so amazing!!! I feel so thrilled to have chemo behind me. I still have 18 more rounds of one drug (Herceptin) but I have been told that it will be nothing compared to the 4 drugs I was receiving. Thank you guys for all of your prayers, encouragement, cards, meals, and so much more. Gary and I have been so completely blessed by all of you!!! My surgery date has been scheduled; it is this Friday, Feb. 8 at San Antonio. I am on track for having a lumpectomy. The surgeon will also take 3 or 4 lymph nodes and as long as there is no trace of cancer, it should be a fairly easy procedure. The specific prayer is that they get "clear margins" around the tumor site and also that all of my lymph nodes are clear. I have every reason to believe this will be the case! My tumor was the size of a lime before chemo and now, I can't feel anything. The surgeon could not feel anything also!!! I am so happy to keep moving forward because the sooner we do each step...the sooner I find myself at the other end of this journey!! I love you guys so very much! Thank you so very much for being there for me and for my family!! Gary and I are so blessed!!!
