Lisa’s Story

Site created on May 24, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On May 21st, Lisa went to Buffalo clinic thinking she had had a stroke because of balance and cognitive difficulty. She had a CT scan done on her brain that indicated masses in her brain rather than evidence of a stroke. She then had a 2nd scan done on the rest of her body that revealed another mass in her right lung.

Lisa was then brought to Abbot Northwestern Hospital and the doctors determined that she has lung cancer and it has moved from her upper right lung to her brain as well. The largest in the brain is cystic rather than solid and benign.

Lisa has a great team of doctors who are focusing on her brain as the top priority. Right now we're waiting on broncoscopy (lung biopsy) results to come back from Mayo clinic and then the doctors will determine the next steps. It sounds so far like they'll start with chemo treatments, but the results will tell us what kind.
