Journal entry by Lindsey Cohen

Hello Everyone,

This is Lindsey's mom, Pam. It is with great sadness I have to inform you that Lindsey lost her battle with cancer last week. It has been too hard to write here until now. She had a sudden decline and cancer spread throughout her lungs. It had metastasized rapidly. We found out along the way that there was nothing we could have done about it despite Lindsey, I, and my husband and son beat ourselves up over missing signs we attributed to a virus or bacterial infection. It turned out all of her doctors were shocked too, as each test came back negative while she was in the hospital. It was only her last couple of days they were 100% sure it was the cancer and up until the point they had to tell her she had days to live she, and we thought she would beat it. The cancer had other ideas. It was just too fast. She was able to talk and joke with us until the moment she went downhill, and I mean the moment. She was able to eat cheesecake, her favorite dessert thanks to some awesome hospital worker, I think he may have been a doc and others there fell in love with her and brought her things to make her happy. She passed in our arms and did not suffer. She was fighting until the end. Her legacy goes on so this is not the end. She donated her body to science in hopes that someone would be able to live by them using her for research. That is who she was. If she couldn't beat it, then she would make sure someone else would.

We have been touched by the outpouring from everyone so far. For all of you who have shared memories, stories, and pictures thank you. They have helped us a lot. If you are just hearing of Lindsey's passing I am sorry to have to tell you this way. Please understand our hearts are breaking. For anyone who I may have not gotten the information to here is the zoom link to her service this Sunday the 21st at 4 pm est. Please join us in the celebration of her life. She touched a lot of lives in many ways and we would like to include everyone.
