Linda’s Story

Site created on June 15, 2018

My mom, Linda Stewart, has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in her small intestine (duodenum specifically).  The plan is to have it surgically removed with that area of the duodenum and then to reattach the intestines to the stomach.  Parts of other organs (stomach, pancreas, etc) may have to be removed as well. During this procedure (known as the whipple procedure), lymph nodes will be examined to look for signs of spread of the cancerous cells. The procedure is a long one and she is expected to be in intensive care after for a few days and then in the hospital to recover for a week.  The procedure will be Monday - June 18 - at Fox Chase Cancer Center near Philadelphia.

"The Great Physician now is near,The sympathizing Jesus.
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
O hear the voice of Jesus.

Oh touch the hem of His garment
And thou too shalt be free.
His saving power this very hour
Shall give new life to thee."
