Lily’s Story

Site created on March 14, 2017

This journey in our lives and Lily's life began on Sept 2nd and has changed our lives forever. As we go on this journey we may not clearly see the end but know God is with us. We would be blessed if you followed us along the way as we kick it.  #KickingitwithLily

Journal entry by Jennifer Goeller

June 28th 2011 I sat in a hospital bed holding Lily admiring her cuteness and dreaming of her future as she grew up. 7 years later on June 28th I sat in a hospital bed with Lily as they prepare her to inject poison into her spinal fluid following the poison they injected earlier into her heart. It hurts deep to see your daughter endure this diagnosis, to see all the obstacles no child should have to overcome, to see the small of her back and her right shoulder riddled with needle poke scars and incisions. I still dream of her future but battle fear of relapse, other cancers and side effects.

BUT around all that hurt I am so grateful and feel blessed that I still get to hold my daughter, she still has a future and God is looking out for her.

Lily continues to do very well and Im humbled as she overcomes so many obstacles. Her counts have stabilized just where we want them, so no upping chemo, we have 131 days left till end of treatment, she only has 4 more infusions (whoop whoop), 1 more sedation/lumbar puncture AND prayers for wisdom as we decide whether or not to have her port taken out in Sept during her last sedation/lumbar puncture. This would mean her last chemo infusion would be via IV in October but by taking out the port while she is sedated for her spinal infusion in September she would not have to be sedated and go through another procedure for just the port removal. There is a risk of infusing via IV in that if not done properly and the vein breaks the chemo could seep into the muscle tissue causing damage or nerve damage..... IV infusions are done all the time and the nurses will check her veins over the next couple months before we make the decision.

She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future-Proverbs 31:25
