Journal entry by Michele Riedel —
Mom had an appointment with her primary MD yesterday. He went over scan results, which show an adenoma on her upper right parathyroid. Best way to treat it is to remove it. She has an appointment with a surgeon on July 2. Upon rechecking her labs, her calcium was up again. She did seem a little more confused and complained that her legs were achy and wobbly (after the appointment was long over, however). I sent several messages to her doc, but he didn't get back to me. Unfortunately, once I finally got a hold of someone, it was the on call doc and he wasn't comfortable letting her calcium stay up. She had a short trip to the ER for a bag of fluids and a calcium recheck. Overall, she is doing better--working hard to drink enough water and walking on the road with Dad.
