Journal entry by Laura Schaller —
We should have updated this a long time ago - so sorry!
Lila came home from the NICU on September 10 at exactly 38 weeks gestational. Things have been busy at home with our "newborn" and every time I thought about writing this post I felt overwhelmed. There aren't really words for how thankful we are.. so I put it off.
We couldn't have made it through all of this without the kind words, prayers, support, etc. God has blessed us so richly with Christian family, friends, and a network of loving and generous people who don't know us personally but still prayed for us.
A few updates:
- Lila is 2 months adjusted and over 9 lbs now!
- She only needs oxygen overnight.
- About a month ago we went back to Rochester and Lila got laser eye surgery. She's had a couple of follow-ups and now doesn't need an eye exam till next year!

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Psalm 34:1-10
