Liana’s Story

Liana is a beautiful, smart, kind, very active and silly 8 year old who is about to embark on a very difficult and painful journey. On July 10, she went in for a simple leg X-ray for occasional leg pain and was found to have a mass in her left femur. An MRI on July 11 confirmed it was malignant and thus started our nightmare.

Liana has been diagnosed with stage 2, Pre-B Lymphoblastic Lymphoma of the bone. Lymphoma presenting in the bone is extremely rare, less than 1%. Chemo therapy treatment of this cancer is projected to last about 2 1/2 years.

Liana has her parents, 3 sisters, and extended family and friends rooting for her, and will support her through this fight, and fight for her when she cannot.
We ask for all your good thoughts, energies, prayers to help us all. Thank you! ❤️

Journal entry by Cindy McCaffery

One year ago yesterday we started our day in blissful ignorance as to what our future held. One year ago today Liana has an MRI that confirmed the mass in her femur was malignant. So much has happened in this past year. It feels like it flew and it’s lasted forever at the same time. Currently Liana is in cycle 2 of long term maintenance and doing well. She has been so brave throughout this whole thing, and her sisters have been too, since their lives were also turned upside down. Thanks to everyone who helped us during this past year.  We truly appreciate it! Hopefully we continue on this good path!
