Chuck’s Story

Site created on October 1, 2018

Welcome to the CaringBridge website for Chuck and Heidi Gilbert

Chuck was involved in a serious bike crash on Saturday morning, September 29th, as he was participating in the 2018 MS City to Shore ride.  It was a terribly hard hit. He suffered a broken cheek bone, a fracture in neck and back, and concussion. We are hoping and praying for a full recovery.  His recovery is likely to take an extended time.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Beth Goshow

Good morning, with all the holidays over, I thought it's time for an update. Chuck is doing well. His brace is off now, because fractures are healing well and he is able to move a lot better. We got a second opinion at Jefferson concerning Chuck's neck and they said to definitely not proceed with neck surgery, which we were very relieved. Chuck was not looking forward to that. He has had a couple bouts of morning dizziness over the past week, but it is lessening with time. He is concerned about his jaw, which still hurts and that gives him issues with chewing and ear pain. We have been told, this will fade with time. All in all, things are good and Chuck is doing better every week. Thank you all for prayers and so much help. You all made such a difference during a difficult time.
