Leslie and Steve’s Story

Site created on April 11, 2008

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated about our loved one.

My Story is the introduction to our CaringBridge site.

Be sure to read the latest in the journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook.

My mom, Leslie, was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer only three weeks ago, March 20, 2008. It has brought about many emotions, beautiful acts of love, and... my need to write. She is in the best of care with Dr. L. Einhorn at I.U. Medical Center. He saved Lance Armstrong during his struggle with cancer and is known for his aggressive treatment of Small Cell Cancer. We love that about him, but not as much as we love his attitude, availability, and soothing voice. We trust him and know that is a huge key in this battle.

I hope this site provides information and insight into how valuable our loved ones have been and how much gratitude we are experiencing at this very moment. I (we) look forward to sharing wonderful news, inspiring stories, and miraculous experiences! And, I assume there will be a little sarcasm and humor along the way. That is really what my family does best!

Forever grateful,

Jen

Journal entry by Jen Spector

It’s Father’s Day and I miss my dad.  My childhood memories are joyful and m safe…because of my dad.

After everything he did for me, I have a significant regret about his life and death.  We never had a funeral.  It was because it was during “Covid” and my girls and I actually had Covid.  We were all mentally and physically too sick to do much.

Yet, his decline was way worse than our discomfort. His final 50+ days were in the hospital and painful and lonely.

I so regret not celebrating his life with others. I am asking everyone who has the time to share a little something about my dad. It would also be great if you could forward this to others that you think would also be willing to do so.

We have so many beautiful words about my mom on FB and Caringbridge; I’m hoping to add to that tribute with words about my dad.
