My father got pneumonia twice before this year and recovered with anti-biotics. Its an inflammation of the lungs caused by a combination of things. Germs, bacteria, care facility. Different kinds of it.
On Christmas Eve, I went to my brothers church service with him at noon. He got a call that our Dad
got a fractured rib. We ordered Xrays of his chest and back. They confirmed his fracture. On Christmas Day we opened gifts in his living room together. He got tired and fell asleep. His temperature rose up and down from 102 to 97.9 which the nurse said happens. His breathing rate is 31 so they increased his morphine to regulate his breathing. Not for pain. He stopped drinking water and eating the last few days. He doesn't talk anymore. He opens his eyes if he hears something. Not often, though. Hearing is the last sense to go.  We gave him permission to go and told old stories and said we were sorry.
