Leon’s Story

Site created on September 25, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. As you may have heard Leon was in a tragic car accident Saturday morning September 24th. Leon is in the ICU and these 1st 72 hours are challenging and critical as his body begins to heal from the trauma. He has suffered a severe head injury  and bruised lungs. He is on a ventilator as is protocol for any head injury. Leon is minimally responsive right now.

We will continue to post updates here and will again shortly as we wait for him to get out of his CT scan this morning. Prayers are greatly appreciated.

Journal entry by Stephanie Davis

Hey Everyone!

It's been awhile and thought I'd share some positive news. Leon's recovery is going well!  He and his Mom have been busy going to PT, OT and SLP three times per week (each therapy.) He has been cleared do go down to  2 times a week for OT and SLP and one time per week for PT.

Leon will be going back to work at NYPO. They are having him back in a new and modified capacity, folding pizza boxes and behind the scenes support. He's so excited and we are so proud of him! He has had friends stop by and visit . He went out to lunch with Bryce and Ben a couple weeks ago, they were home from college. They spent quality time watching football and just hanging with Leon. My sister and I saw those 2 strong capable guys and we didn't hesitate to ask for assistance. They helped with the TV and moving some heavy furniture. They were awesome, Thank you, Bryce and Ben!

Leon is still in full on recovery mode. Time and therapy are crucial for the best possible recovery. I know Kelly, Lee and Leon are so thankful for the community support and prayers, it's truly been beautiful. This will be the last  Care Bridge entry.   Leon is beginning to go back to read all of the journal entries and comments. He has no memory of the accident or being at The University Medical Center. He did go back for a visit and all of the staff was shocked to see how far he has come.

Here's to a Christmas Miracle, he is living proof they happen. 😇
