Lenny’s Story

Site created on January 9, 2019

Lenny is a husband and father to three children. In September 2018 he was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and informed that he would need a kidney/pancreas transplant.

This page was created for friends and family to have quick access to updates along this new journey we're traveling down.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Amber Bowen

I’m overdue for an update on here and I know that I’ve been pretty silent but I have been asked and while a lot of you know, it is necessary to formally update all of our friends and family here.

The person that started our Gofundme was a coworker of mine and someone that I thought was a friend. In January she went missing during work one day and I found out that she had been arrested for theft of property. Immediately I was sick as I realized that she likely had stolen money from our fundraiser and after several emails from Gofundme (they don’t have a phone number for these issues), they confirmed that she indeed stole half of the money that we had raised. We filed a police report and informed them that we do intend to press charges. We haven’t got much more to update on that topic for now. Our Gofundme page was pulled down as soon as I alerted them of the incident.

This whole situation has been devastating. Please reach out to me and not Lenny if you have questions or concerns. If you have dealt with this type of theft and can offer advice, please share that information with me as well.

As far as Lenny’s health.. he’s still stable (again, this is exactly what we can hope for at this point). His local doctor is so pleased with his lab work that he told him that he can come back for a visit in 6 months instead of 3 months.

He is still on the waitlist. Due to the financial situation that the thief left us in, we have had to pause his phone calls. He will still accrue his time on the waitlist, but we need to make sure we’re ready when we do get the final phone call.

Thank you all for your love, thoughts, and prayers.
