Lee and Evie are home!!!

After completing all of the goals for his stay at Craig, Lee rolled to the doors of Craig and then walked across the threshold to begin his next adventure. Son Zac has been here for an extended stay to help them settle into a new routine and complete the repairs to the roof, HVAC and replacement of an oven that Evie initiated from Craig.  Zac has organized the distribution and sale of Lee’s prized bicycle collection - and purchased a stationary bike for Lee. He also got Evie set up with a modern phone, better internet service and he cooked!

When I talked with Evie yesterday, Lee was in his big chair reading the Sunday paper - with both arms. He is on the road to independence and can maneuver on their main floor and go up or down stairs with some assistance. Friday he walked a mile with the help of Evie and his Rollator – those great gizmos that serve as a walker with a shelf for packages or a butt when you want to sit and rest. He calls it his Roto-Rooter.

The first outings were to Walgreens and the grocery store where Lee looked for items to celebrate their favorite event – Halloween. Candy corn has been stockpiled but wax whistles are hard to find. Jan took them to box up some bikes that were sold. Cathy took them to Smash Burger and Lee polished off a cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake with whipped cream. He still needs to put on the pounds.

Lee would be delighted to hear from you and to see you if you want to visit. (But please call first as he still has a heavy schedule of outpatient physical and occupational therapy, appointments and two rounds of therapy to do on his own each day.) They are enjoying listening to podcasts from This American Life so please share some suggestions of your favorite podcasts.

Your friendship and support have carried them so far – thank you!
