Leah’s Story

Site created on August 22, 2021

As many of you now know, Leah has been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. She began chemo Thursday, August 19th and it will last 20 weeks. Then she'll have a bilateral mastectomy, probable radiation, then hormone therapy.

We are using this website to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement

We all know how much of a warrior Leah is and it's been hard to convince her to let us help! However, I will be posting some ways, if you are curious and would like to lend a hand.

Leah will have her hands full being a mom, wife, friend, nurse and grad school student during this fight. Let's all wrap our arms around the Gruna family and show them how much we love them with helping where you can and continued prayers.

FYI this is a free site for everyone. No donations to Caringbridge are needed.

From Leah: Last dance with the Red Devil today… 💃🏼 and boy was it a doozy.  Got sick before I even left the building this time..
Breast MRI tomorrow to check progress because we can’t feel if the lymph nodes affected with cancer are shrinking due to the hematoma that’s still there from that artery that got nicked during my biopsy.  Fingers crossed the chemo is working 🤞🏻. If not, surgery will be moved up as the next step, then the rest of the chemo after that.  I’m sure glad to be almost done with this wicked dose dense stuff.  🤮
