Lynne’s Story

Site created on May 4, 2020

Lynne has been battling chronic pancreatitis for over 15 years. In all those years there has not been one single pain-free day for her.  This all followed an acute pancreatitis attack that nearly killed her in December 2004.  On May 28, 2020, Lynne is scheduled to have surgery to remove her pancreas (along with her spleen, bile duct, and a small portion of her small intestine), transplant the islet cells (cells that produce insulin) from the pancreas to her liver and in so doing hopefully give her substantial pain relief and a significantly improved quality of life.  The procedure will be performed at MUSC in Charleston, SC. We are expecting her to be in the hospital for at least 5-7 days following the surgery.  Please pray for a successful procedure, significant pain relief, and a speedy recovery.  We will use this site to keep you posted on her condition leading up to, during, and after the procedure as well as to let others know how they can help during her recovery once we return home. Thank you all for you continual prayers.

Journal entry by Lynne Bedsole

Things are going well. We have no complications from the surgery, which is kinda a surprise with my record. I still think I have a good deal of healing and strengthening to go. But this is a good start. It is going to take a bit longer to find out if there is any improvement from before surgery since we didn’t get the procedure that we initially signed up for.

God has been so VERY faithful and has never left us, even for a second.  He has blessed us in many, many ways and His saints have given us exactly what we have needed. We have had love, encouragement, provisions and prayers. Thank you all for everything you have poured on us. We love you all.

I have the feeling that this is a good time, 8 days post surgery, to discontinue the Caringbridge site. I don’t know that there are earth shattering changes happening each day and I know everyone has much more productive things to do with your time. We so very much appreciate that we have been so abundantly loved through our ongoing challenges. We continue to pray for you all and hope that you all stay safe and healthy.
