Lawrence’s Story

Site created on January 13, 2022

Lawrence was brought into Palomar Medical Center Emergency Room Poway on January 5th, 2022 after having a dry cough and shortness of breath. for a few days. He was also experiencing chest pains for a few weeks. He was tested negative for COVID. While at Palomar Poway they found liquid in his lungs and around his heart. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was admitted into the ICU at Palomar Poway Wednesday night. They transported to Palomar Medical Center Escondido to do an angiogram and found several blockages around the arteries that they had to do an emergency bypass. Law was supposed to have a quadruple bypass but two of his arteries were too calcified, so the doctors did a double bypass. While the double bypass is keeping Law stable, his heart is severely diseased and is not functioning fully so he was given an Impella heart pump. He was transferred to the surgical ICU Sharp Memorial on Sunday, January 9th where they have more specialized treatment for cardiovascular disease. Currently, Law is stable, sedated, and showing little improvements each day. Please continue to pray for Law and our family as he continues with treatment.

Thank you Lord for many more days with my Law…

MY LAW IS HOME! Thank you everyone for all your love, support and prayers. Our Father God truly heard all our prayers because Law is home and came home with his own heart! Thank you Lord for providing the perfect heart in Your time. Thank you God for Your supernatural, miraculous healing. We are so grateful to all the prayer warriors lifting Law up in prayer. He is still here because God heard all your prayers.

When all this first started, I was told Lawrence had a 50/50 chance of survival at Palomar Medical Center Escondido. He was then transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital and boy his heart did not like that at all. Fortunately his medical team at Sharp was able to stabilize him. I was able to visit him 2 days after he was transferred. He was still sedated and intubated. The Impella was working his heart for him. They took Law off sedation and removed his ventilator on Saturday, January 15. Praise God his body was able to tolerate it. So I thought he would be able to come home soon. Unfortunately, he couldn’t. There were always baby steps to healing then a setback. Finally we were told Law needed a new heart so he was placed on the transplant list. He had to stay in SICU until he was blessed with a heart. Law’s Impella was set at the highest setting to function his heart then they set it to the lowest. They noticed how well Law was doing so they decided to remove the Impella on Monday, February 21 and was told he does not need a heart transplant anymore.

Law lived in the SICU for about 44 days. Law and I made many new friends and are so grateful to all of the SICU staff.  They were his support and took care of him when I couldn’t be there. They were so grateful for his positive and joyous attitude. He was able to share God’s love, comfort and joy with all of them. We are so thankful for his medical team.

Law was moved out of SICU on Tuesday, February 22. We were not ready to leave SICU. He was able to bring his exercise bike though! Staff in the other unit he was transferred to was not use to having an exercise bike in a patient’s room. They loved it! We thought Law would be in the hospital for a couple of more weeks- you know to monitor him on all his new medication and monitor his heart. Well he was discharged on Thursday, February 24. We were so happy, so surprised but dude a bit scared.

Jacob and Cruz picked us up from the hospital and Cruz was so surprised and happy! We surprised Tia, Christophe and the rest of the Cruz and Prijoles families on FaceTime.

I never stopped praying for Jesus’ healing blood to flow through Law’s heart and for God to squeeze life back into it. That’s what HE did! He revived Lawrence’s heart with His miraculous healing. There are just no words to express how we feel and ya’ll know Law is never speechless.

Law has been home for 2 days now and he’s doing great. His long distance nurse, Nikki Rose has been checking on him constantly making sure he’s doing what he’s suppose. His blood pressure is great. His heart rate is great. Even his blood sugar is good. Praise God!

Please continue to pray that the Lord’s healing blood continues to flow through Law’s heart and body… for God to continue to pump Law’s heart with strength. Please pray that Law’s body and mind continue to strengthen and stay healthy during his recovery. Please pray for all those who are still in the hospital and for them to have a wonderful community of prayer warriors as our family has. Please keep Christophe, his family and Kristiana in prayer- he will be admitted for his bone marrow transplant on February 28.

I remember when all this started, I was listening to Way Maker on repeat. I was on my knees surrendering my husband and his healing into the Lord’s hands. I just couldn’t stop crying out of fear. I felt so broken because my husband was so sick and there was nothing I could do. All I could do was just BE STILL and let God be in control. Thank you Lord for knocking sense into me and knowing… feeling that You are the only one that can heal Law and bring life back into his heart. Now I can’t stop crying tears of happiness. HE is truly the GREAT PHYSICIAN… OUR ONLY HEALER. How can people not believe in our God? Law is proof that God does exist! That He is the Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, light in the darkness…

“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV

“I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me…”
Psalms 86:12-13
