Newest Update

Journal entry by kim christen

Hello
a brief update.

Laurie met with her oncologist this week as  was the plan after being on a chemo break,  to see how everything was going and  to determine what the plan is going forward.  Her oncologist has decided they will continue down this path. Her body has been through enough and her counts remain stable in her labs. So he feels it is safe and necessary to just continue with the chemo break.
The plan is no chemo for 3 more months. So basically maintanence chemo is on hold again at least for this next 3 months. Laurie will go in monthly for labs to check her blood and if all is normal, then  she “stays the course”. There will not be another bone marrow biopsy at this time.
Her oncologist stated she’s always had MDR Negative results with the biopsies and said if there’s no issues showing up in the blood, there should be no issues in her bone marrow either.

Hoping the extended chemo break finally starts to give her some relief from the daily pain and fatigue. We had hoped she would have seen a difference by now, but she is staying positive and fighting through it.

The end of the month she has an appointment with palliative care to get a better pain management plan in place. Unfortunately the effects of chemo have been extremely rough on her,  like many others experience as well.  But they just want to be done for as long as possible, so we are praying that some new options from the palliative care appointment will give her better, more comfortable days ahead.

Laurie was able to escape for a mini fall get away to Duluth with her mom, Joe and Kaden for the wknd. They had a really nice time, she loves the fall colors and Duluth. She loved being away with a few of her favorite people. ❤️

I think her favorite part though was the outside hot tub at the hotel. Since the pain is in her bones and muscles she said soaking in the hot tub just really helps to calm the pain & makes her feel refreshed, even if for just  a little while.

We are so grateful she is in remission and we pray she stays that way FOREVER🙏

As always your continued prayers are so appreciated

Thank you
and
GOD bless you all.
