I'm so proud of you Laurie, I wish I could see you speak your story for everyone. I am sure you will be filled with so many feelings, and with such pride. This will be a wonderful night!
Love you!
Great talk, Laurie. You sort of downplayed just how hard it was and I tend to do the same thing. I expect the KITE folks to be super excited to meet you. A long time back I visited a company with one of the patients in their trial and they were thrilled to meet him. Many of the people at those companies are lab types and never see a patient, just cells in bags and tubes. It will inspire them to meet you and see what their work means in the flesh rather than just in the abstract. Thanks for putting yourself out there and helping LLS with their mission.
Do you remember the Sex & The City episode where sex-pot Samantha gave a speech at a breast cancer awareness dinner, perspiring profusely from the wig she was wearing to hide her "ugly" bald head? If not, you might want to watch it (probably available through Amazon Prime) - uplifting, I think.
Sorry about the hair!!! Makes me realize that my contemplation about going naturally gray is pretty ridiculous. Sending good energy for a clear and effective speech - yes, hope is so so important!
