Thank you for visiting the CaringBridge site of our beloved Laura McDonough. For those of you who may not have known, Laura has been battling ovarian cancer for the last two years. Her struggle with the disease has been brave and aggressive, but the disease is more aggressive. Her ever-humorous, light-hearted, let’s-talk-about-YOU-not-me, wildly generous spirit remains intact, but after a series of failed chemotherapy treatments and a recent surgery she is in the process of making end-of-life decisions.
Not one who has ever longed to be the center of attention, Laura has kept her diagnosis and ongoing treatment out of social media circles, preferring instead to nurture relationships in a more old-fashioned way, closer to home. But Covid-19 has had devastating impacts on our ability to communicate in person or say a personal goodbye.
Because Laura will not be able to see all of us in person, or respond to the likely barrage of emails, text messages, and phone calls that would otherwise fill her various inboxes, this all-inclusive site has been created in her honor. Here you are welcome to blow Laura a big kiss, open your arms up for a big hug, post photos (maybe of you offering a kiss or a hug), and relate your personal messages, memories, or even your favorite jokes (Laura loves a good joke!).
So chime in. Our deeply graceful, tender, magical-thinking, Laura is ready to feel your love ❤️
Laura was never that excited about obituaries, but we gave her one that we think she’d approve of. Keep calm, eat fudge, and find a few words about Laura at the above link.
Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
