Laura’s Story

Site created on July 31, 2022

In July 2022, Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has a grade 3 mass that has moved into the lymph nodes. The biopsy determined that she is HER2+ and will need about 4 months of chemotherapy to reduce the size of the mass and prevent the cancer from spreading further, followed by surgery and radiation.

For those of you who know Laura, you know that her faith is a huge part of her life, and she knows that God has this! With God on her side, along with the support of her friends, family, and the community, we are confident that Laura will overcome this and kick cancer to the curb!

Happy First Day of Spring, Everyone!

It's been a while since we have posted an update on Laura, but I'm happy to report that she is doing really well! She has been keeping busy with teaching, coaching SPENGA, spending time with friends, and most importantly, being an awesome mom to Ethan and Kipton!

The boys are doing well and crushing their 7th and 9th grade years with earning all As and Bs. Ethan is officially taller than Laura and Kip is not far behind. Ethan is working at Grand Park and loves it. Be sure to say hi to him if you see him at the concessions!

Laura and the boys were able to get away in February and travel to Hollywood, Florida for a nice little family vacation. She will be recovering from surgery over spring break, so this provided a pre-spring break trip for the three of them!

Laura is back to coaching at one of her favorite places; SPENGA, and she even played indoor volleyball the other day which she loves! She continues to remain positive and thankful for each and every day!

As previously mentioned, Laura has an upcoming surgery scheduled for next week. She has been looking forward to the reconstructive surgery (which may seem silly but it's not!) Her surgery will take place at 9:30 am on Friday, March 29th at Carmel St. Vincent. Dr. Paul informed her that the surgery will not require much down time and she will be back to work and SPENGA in no time. Please pray that the surgery goes smoothly and recovery is easy!

Thank you for all of your continued Love for Laura and support. She is blessed beyond measure.
