DITTO all of Mary's comments! I never thought about hair and my hairdo's quite the way you described , but I dearly relate! I was sorely jealous of your Mom's natural curls which allowed her to only need a little highlighting to get the best hairdo ever! I had to perm and color and result was whitish blonde frizz! 🤪

Oh my gosh, Gretchen. You are such a writer! You had me nodding along about hair being history (literally and metaphorically), about how our hair changes as we change (not just styles but the hair itself), and how we use hair to express our personalities and to individuate -- from our parents especially.
