Larry’s Story

Site created on December 11, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.      Larry was diagnosed in December with Mesothelioma, Sarcornatoid and caused by breathing Asbestos sometime in his past, most likely 15-40 years ago when he called on older buildings that were being remodeled, and/or sold items that contained Asbestos.   The three tumors are on the outside of his right lung.  The plan is to fight this with all we have.  If you want to follow along you can view all of the posts from the beginning on this site, as well as visit the Gallery to see some photos.

Journal entry by Kathy Recker

This morning at approximately 8:10, Larry passed away.  I don't even know what to say, except, it was very peaceful, it was just him and I, and I was holding his hand.  I had just told him I loved him, which I did over and over the past two days he was at the hospice facility as it didn't go so well at home, on the 9th, at 3:30 in the morning the nurse at our house arranged to have him transported by ambulance to their facility.  He was there two days, one struggling, and one peaceful.  I really don't know what I will do without him, he was my rock, my person, love of my life.   The only good thing is he is no longer in pain as these past three months have been pretty hard.  Thank you everyone for your love and support, for everything you did for us, the visits, the food, text messages and phone calls were wonderful and helped tremendously.  As far as a service goes, with the corona virus, there are not very many options, you cannot have a service in Colorado right now, so we will be waiting until after this virus has slowed down or hopefully stopped, and maybe have a service in a few months so that anyone that wants to fly doesn't have to feel uncomfortable.  I will send out a message when I know what the plan is for the service, and I will try to do that 3 to 4 weeks in advance.  Again, Larry and I thank you
