Dave and Kent’s Story

Site created on March 7, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

During the Summer of 2019 Dave was diagnosed with a liver disease called PSC.  After multiple tests, it was determined that a liver transplant is the only cure.  Out of Nat, Ty, and Kent, Kent's liver was the best match and he will be the live donor on March 17th, 2020.  This is where we will be posting updates throughout their surgery and recovery time.

Journal entry by Niki Aiken

Dave and I made a snowy trip to Hershey today to get his biliary drains exchanged for bigger ones. The hospital is allowing one visitor again so it was nice be able to go in with Dave. The good news is these tubes are as big as they’re going to get. He doesn’t have to exchange them again for larger ones. The bad news is these have to stay in for six months.  They said it would be a year until Dave would feel like himself and Dave is realizing that it is actually the reality. A praise is Dave did stay asymptomatic during his time with Covid.
