Journal entry by Dana Schwandt —
Today Pat, Lance and I traveled to U of M for Lances mediastinoscopy outpatient surgery. We got here at 9 this morning, Lance was taken back as soon as he was checked in. His pre-op took alittle over 2 hours, and his surgery was just under 2 hours. We met with Lances Thoratic surgeon, Doctor Wakeam, before and after his surgery and made sure to ask some questions.
Surgery went well. Doctor mentioned he took out 11 lymph nodules on both left and right side of his chest cavity. Some enlarged, and some not. All tissue is being sent to Pathology and we should have results soon with a follow up with Dr. Phillips, Lances Oncologist. Lances incision is close to 2 1/2 inches which is pretty much located at the center of his collarbone. He’s in some pain and his throat is kind of horse from his breathing tube being inserted, and the camera that was down his throat to see inside his lungs.
As for now, we’re on the way home. Lance is napping, and I’m able to ride shotgun on this trip thanks to Pat. Thanks for all your continued prayers for Lance. 💚
