Kyle’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

There is not enough room on the Internet for all of Kyle's story. He was born in McMinnville, TN in 1958 to Kathleen & Joe Pennington and has three siblings, Janice, Genay, & Kelvin (Boo). Kyle is a giving son and brother.

He made lifelong friends in grade school, high school, and college. He played volleyball at the University of Tennessee. Kyle is a compassionate friend.

He has three children and two stepchildren: Cara, Colin, Tristen, Austyn, and CJ. His children are the most important thing to him. Kyle is a giving, sacrificial, loving, and sometimes affectionately embarrassing father.

He has worked in various industries in various cities. Most recently, he worked for Synalloy Corporation as the president of Bristol Metals. This job was a blessing for Kyle, and Kyle was a blessing to the company. Kyle is a dedicated employee and humble leader.

He married the love of his life, Charlette, in May 2019. They have one child-dog, Carson. Kyle is a protective, providing, loving, and sometimes affectionately embarrassing  husband.

In April of 2019 Kyle was diagnosed with cancer. It is a very rare form of cancer, so it took doctors weeks to determine exactly what kind of cancer he has. He has stage 4 malignant melanoma, which has spread to multiple internal organs. Kyle has received the highest quality of care at both M.D. Anderson in Houston and Vanderbilt in Nashville.

In the last 14 months Kyle has exhausted multiple treatment options, including immunotherapy, radiation, and chemotherapy.  At every step he has shown strength and gratitude. In June 2020 he was elected to be a part of a trial drug study and M.D. Anderson. Please join us as we pray that this trial drug would bring complete healing to Kyle. We pray for many more weeks, months, and years to have him as a brother, friend, father, leader, and husband. Most of all, please pray that Kyle and his family and friends would feel God's peace, love, and mercy in very real ways.

Thank you for being  a part of this journey.
