Journal entry by Tracy Booth Sheridan

Three years and three months have flown by since that dreadful day.  We still are taking Kyle to all his therapies.  He currently attends OT and Speech at the VA in Montrose.  He finished PT for now.  He will be starting aqua therapy on Monday.  In the summer we got him into the pool in our community and he absolutely loved it.  We are hoping this will be able to help strengthen his legs so that he can stand up with more confidence.

His days are filled with caring aides that fulfill his needs to always strive to be his best.  He still makes everyone laugh with his wit and humor.  His smile still lights up every room he's in.  He looks forward to FaceTime phone calls with his favorite people; Matt, Brianna, Mallory and Jamie (his old OT).  He knows they always have his back.  Kyle has also become a little bit more professional driving his motorized wheelchair.  James and Kyle take walks/rides around the neighborhood and around town every day that the weather permits.  Kyle looks forward to doing this.  One of his doctors asked him if he was depressed.  Kyle's answer was "NO, I'm happy AF".  This kid has an amazing outlook on life if he can say that he's happy AF even though he needs to be taken care of 24 hours a day.

Anyway.... I just streamed the funeral service of a high school friend that passed away.  He, also, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury three years before Kyle.  He was doing really well physically and then he wasn't.  I don't know all the details, but, I'm going to try to enjoy every moment with Kyle that I can because we never know.  I will never take a day for granted that he is still here with us.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Tracy
