Sign In to Show Your SupportWell, two weeks into my six weeks of IV antibiotics, and the pain has finally taken a turn for the better. 🙏 I guess the doctors were right when they said it could be 2-3 weeks of pain with a bone infection complicated with a fracture. As the pain has come down, I've been able to become a little more mobile. I'm out of bed for most meals now and try to get outside a little. Last weekend I went to Mass for the first time in a month.
Yesterday, my CT scan for my abscess drain went well. It showed the abscess had shrunk with only small pockets of fluid and air likely from the daily flushing. The drain output had decreased and was a good color and clarity. Along with good bloodwork they were comfortable removing the accordion drain. If you recall Danielle had already removed the original JP surgical drain installed in NYC.
For the next four weeks of IV antibiotics we'll continue to monitor the bloodwork and try to taper the pain medication. I'll keep the crutches as the hip fracture heals. PT can begin soon and we'll continue down the road to recovery. My next scan will likely be July or August. As always, thank you for the thoughts and prayers. They're coming your way as well!
