Kyle’s Story

Site created on April 14, 2022

** When you make a tribute donation that does not go to Kyle, it goes to the Caring Bridge website. Just wanted to make sure everyone knows that. 😊

Kyle has been having pain in his shin since preseason wrestling 2021. At first he thought it was just shin splints, then maybe a sprain. It just never got better and started to get worse recently. On April 4th, he was finally sent for an x-ray. The x-ray showed a large mass in his tibia, with finding concerning for a malignancy. On April 7th, he was sent for an MRI of the mass. On April 8th, he was sent for a biopsy and bloodwork. On that day, we saw a doctor who specializes in osteosarcoma which is what he told us Kyle had. A rare bone cancer...
On April 12th, Kyle had a CT scan of his torso. If the cancer had metastasized it would likely be to the lungs. That is where it usually goes. On April 13th, we met with his oncologist who gave us further devastating news that it had spread to his lungs. He has one large mass and several smaller masses in both of his lungs. As you can imagine we were shocked to hear this news.
He is having a slew of others tests and will begin chemo on April 20th. This is going to be a very long year for our family. Please keep praying for Kyle until he is cured from this horrible disease.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Theresa Dickhaus

Thankful for another stable report on Kyle's 2 month scans. He got upgraded to every 3 months instead of two so that will be a little nicer. He did fracture his leg and heel a month and a half ago so he's in a boot trying to reheal that.

Please send prayers for quick and thorough healing of that as well as continued killing of the cancer in his body. A little joy and happiness as well as a calm mind wouldn't hurt. He is doing well overall. He doesn't know how to slow down which is good and bad.

We are coming up on 2 years since his diagnosis and I am so thankful for all the love, support and prayers we have been blessed with. Thank you for lifting us up in prayer as he continues his fight.

🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻♥️
