Journal entry by Krystal Kompkoff —
I am now off of my anti-nausea meds and back to work. Work has been going well. I have been having troubles sleeping, so I am taking a med for that, and it took a couple of days to get the amount right so I would not wake up groggy.
Yesterday I had two great accomplishments, my exit wound is finally healed (!!!) and I am trying a nerve block in my femoral nerve. I won’t know for a few days if the steroid is working, but it has become apparent that another nerve is also aggravating me, just to a lesser degree. I like the pain staff I am working with and there are other things we can try if this doesn’t provide relief.
I am am also getting back into my routines of volunteering and hanging out with friends and family. I am not back to doing my weekly walks and still appreciate that I can park in disability parking spots. I have also gained a couple of pounds back, so the routine of working is helping me eat on a regular basis, which is necessary for my short bowel syndrome.
