Journal entry by Kristin Berkinsky

I’m quite sore and bruised, but it’s much better than last time. For starters, they only needed 2 tries to get an IV in, a significant improvement over the 5 it took last time (and yes, I’m still kinda mad at that guy).  I didn’t stay overnight so I can’t fully compare hospitals, but Overlook, in general, seemed better organized, less hectic, and I felt I got better attention and care than at the hospital where I got my first surgery.

I did not need surgery drains this time, and was able to shower after 2 days- another huge improvement.

I’m black, blue and yellow, and pretty swollen and will be for several weeks. I also look like a canvas for Harald’s Purple Crayon. Before surgery my doc drew around the liposuction and grafting sites. I was warned not to try to scrub the marker off (no need -it’s tender!), but after one shower, it’s already lighter. Honestly not my biggest worry.

My plan is to rest and relax for the next week, and then probably work from home next week.

Thanks for the well wishes!  Happy Holidays!
