Journal entry by Kristin Barnes

To be honest I wasn't sure what to think after seeing the results of my scan.  Relief that something was wrong and I wasn't going crazy maybe… definitely thinking, well I better plan my funeral & of course thinking of my boys - Tanner, Tate & Trace.

It went very fast after the Doctor came out to get me & Tanner from the lobby - never a good sign when the ER doc comes to get you in the lobby. Tanner was with me & luckily the ER let my mom come back with us as well. Mom & Tanner was big “hot messes”. I got transferred to downtown Greenville Memorial & of course COVID rules wouldn’t allow the family in with me. I got a MRI while at Greenville & met with my neuro surgeon - Dr. Hodge.

They was going to rearrange the surgery schedule so I could be fit in for surgery asap. BRAIN SURGERY. In the meantime my head is still spinning.

The next week would go by in a blur. Lots of visitors - sweet gifts - kind words. Got some meaningful pictures with my family made - Tried to be prepared for what could lie ahead of me. They are messing with the brain so remember anything can happen…. You may can’t walk - talk - see - all those things we take for granted! Don’t take stuff for granted y’all! Look around at all your are able to do and give thanks! Life changes in a drop of a hat.
