I agree with all the wonderful thoughts above. Also, eat dessert first..who's going to stop you?
I selfishly hope you continue writing. You are so good.
I offer words by a better author, my favorite quote of all time, from the best book...The Once and Future King

“The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”
― T.H. White, The Once and Future King

I hope to swim up to your floating raft on calm waters soon and then to hit the rapids as well, when they come.
We are not so far apart, especially when the meeting place is well understood! lol!
You are a sage and wonderful person. I am happy to call you my friend.

I agree with others, do whatever gives you joy. Catch your breath, read a book , eat dessert and take each day one step at a time. So good to hear how well you are doing. Make plans as that proves you have future time. Travel if you feel up to it. Find your new normal. You are my hero. Love, Suzy

Hello, dear Kris!
A very wise person whom I look up to, who also happens to write very well, is a MB-trained coach, has a blog and does inspirational work helping teens and others to ‘find their strengths ‘ , is a talented singer, creative and left-brained at the same time, has handled a shock diagnosis and wretched aftermath with grace and candour, is an aspiration in being spouse, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and phenomenal person ....
Once told me when I was going through a (much less important) PTSD and existential crisis to imagine I was advising my daughter . Ping!
I also second what the other commentators here have said.
What a tribe of sages!
❤️❤️❤️

Dearest Kris
I love your writing and the metaphors you use are so powerful!
My dearest friend, the doing will come, just BE for now. Be good to yourself, heal, think, love as you are doing. Be kind to yourself and allow your body to get rid of all the stress hormones. Lay flat on your back on the raft and experience the gentle water beneat you and the sunshine 🌞 n your face, feel the breeze and enjoy the shade as you move into it.
Then if you absolutely have to, just do the things you love and the road will show itself.
For now reintegrate into life. Visit your very good friends in SA and we will hold you and help you 😍
Good luck on this journey of gratitude and beauty.
I am so very grateful that we are at the stage of asking what now!
All my love
