Newest Update

Journal entry by Kristen Kautzer

Hello everyone: It has been a while since I have written so I thought since I just saw Dr. Poore I'd give an update. I will be having another surgery probably in May and hopefully this will be my last (fingers crossed). See my stomach wall with my second surgery has become weak, and the stomach itself is trying to escape, so it needs to be fixed. Actually Dr. Poore being the sweetheart he is gave me two options. Option A, not doing anything which really isn't an option since my stomach is always hard and feels like when your foot falls asleep (pins and needles poking me). The second option is to have the surgery, which if you have not guessed is the direction I have chosen. Dr. Poore will be opening back up my abdominal scar and strengthening the abdominal wall. Then he will do some corrections from the third surgery I had and work on my ends of the abdominal scar or dog ears as they call them. This should be another extensive surgery (his words not mine), but it is outpatient. Never understood how extensive surgery and outpatient fit in the same sentence-though not sure where they'd put me if it was inpatient since there are no beds available. However, I remind myself that it could be worse, it is not chemo and the tumor has already been removed so this is a walk in the park. Unfortunately, I will have drains again, and they are not fun...but no worries both Scott and Lisa are experts. As usual thank you for being a part of my journey and for your prayers. Love to you all. Kristen
